BEIJING, February 27th (AMSP/CGTN) – – “I’m all for open markets and I believe that if we have a trade war it will be disastrous for both countries. I hope that we won’t have a series of mutually escalating tariffs that will only hurt the consumers and the economies of our countries. I really think that these restrictions now on the U.S. side for Chinese investment are shooting ourselves in the foot. I believe that if the United States just tries to do what we do best and keep doing it, we don’t have to have all of those restrictions. In general, the U.S. business community in China continues to believe in the long-term importance of the Chinese market. Most companies are not leaving China. Most companies are continuing to grow their business in China. We’ve opened three hospitals in the last three years and we have some more very exciting big investments coming up, and I think many of the American companies here feel the same way. Of course, some of them a little bit worried about the geopolitical environment are doing some de-risking by also bringing some of their supply chain to other places but not leaving China at the same time,” a leader of the U.S. business community in China told CGTN during an exclusive interview.
