The presidential couple joined the Christians of the Murayi parish in the celebration of Christmas

GITEGA, Dec. 27th (ABP) – The family of the President of the Republic, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye joined, on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, the Catholic Christians of the Murayi parish, in Giheta commune, Gitega province (political capital and center of Burundi) in the Christmas mass, a check by ABP has revealed.

On the sidelines of the mass, the Head of State addressed the Christians. He said that the Christmas feast is celebrated to remember the love of labor and neighbor that Christ bequeathed to Christians and families. He thus called on the population to work diligently in order to concretize the word of God in actions. President Ndayishimiye thanked the Lord for the fact that Christmas comes at a time when all the fields, especially corn fields, look good throughout the country following good rainfall. He called on Christians to continue praying for the country and for the leaders, especially those who will be elected soon, so that they will be leaders who will put the well-being of the population first.

The President of the Republic of Burundi took the opportunity to wish all Burundians a happy Christmas and New Year 2025.

The parish priest of Murayi, during his homily, thanked the presidential couple for their presence in their native parish to celebrate Christmas. He called on the Christians of the parish to prioritize income-generating activities to support the National Vision 2040-2060, advocated by President Ndayishimiye. He also took the opportunity to wish the presidential family and the faithful of the Murayi parish a happy Christmas.

It is worth noting that after the mass, the children of the presidential family shared the joy of Christmas with the children of the Murayi parish.
