KIRUNDO, January 3rd (ABP) – The “Nanje Nige” organization working in Kirundo province (North), through its project “Saving for a better future for children” (EPAVME), organized last week a Christmas party for the children benefiting from the project, under the theme “Zero school dropouts”, as reported on site.
On that occasion, the legal representative of “Nanje Nige”, Mr. Emmanuel Nkeraguhiga, stated that the aim of that organization is to support children from poor families so that they do not drop out of school, given that the problem of dropping out of school is a reality in Kirundo province.
Mr. Nkeraguhiga pointed out that the 68 children benefiting from the project come from two schools, Mutwenzi and Rugero Basic Schools, all in the Kirundo commune. From the year 2025, more than 80 children will be added, according to the legal representative.
That “Nanje Nige” organization, in collaboration with the “Hauge Family” microfinance organization, has facilitated the opening of accounts for those children so that they grow up with the spirit of saving. That will enable them to save their income from farming, raising small livestock and other activities.
The socio-cultural advisor to the governor of Kirundo province, Jean Baptiste Kwizera, encouraged the organization, saying that the administration would not cease to support it because, he said, it had come at the right time to tackle the problem of school dropouts.
The children benefited from soap and pen kits donated by the “Nanje Nige” organization.
The Christmas festivities began with a soccer match between Mutwenzi Basic School and Rugero Basic School, which ended 5-1 in favour of Mutwenzi Basic School.
Footballs were presented to the schools as prizes.
