NGOZI, January 30th (ABP) – Burundi’s Head of State, Evariste Ndayishimiye, today, Friday January 24, 2025, in Nazareth Room at Ngozi, gave talks to the young people of the newly enlarged province of Butanyerera.

He asked the young people to use their God-given intelligence to undertake activities for their own development and that of the country as a whole. According to President Ndayishimiye, every human being is born with intelligence, which must be used to produce and make the earth even better. Young people must pray and scrupulously respect God, but they must also work, for as the Bible says, He who does not work should not even eat.

He therefore urged young people to make a clean break with the bad practices that lead to idleness. According to him, it is inconceivable that a country can develop while people are still working only eight hours a day. Apart from official duties, it is imperative to occupy oneself usefully with other development activities, instead of wasting time in bistros or in unproductive dialogues.

The Head of State urged young people to be aware of and love their country. It is inconceivable that a young person should finish his studies and spend years waiting for a job when he has the intelligence and knowledge acquired in school. They must be able to undertake for their own development, for science without conscience is but the ruin of the soul,” insisted President Ndayishimiye.

He took issue with poisoned foreign aid, which destroys rather than builds the country. He gave the example of aid that accompanies homosexuality and other conditional aid. President Ndayishimiye did not forget to advise young people not to listen to ill-intentioned people who still want to revive the ethnic divisions that have so undermined Burundi and prevented its development.

Before concluding his teachings, he encouraged young people to plan for the future and show respect for the law and the country. On Friday, the Head of State is also due to deliver a series of teachings to leaders before resuming eucumenical prayers in the afternoon at the Kugasaka stadium in Ngozi.
