KIRUNDO, March 26th (ABP) – 139 tonnes of food collected in the extended provinces of Gitega and Buhumuza by the CNDD-FDD party, as well as 10 tonnes of rice from the national representation of that party, were granted on Thursday 20 March 2025 to the victims of the effects of the lack of water in Kirundo province (north), according to local sources.

The food consists of rice, beans, maize and dry cassava. The CNDD-FDD national secretary responsible for social issues, Mrs. Calinie Mbarushimana, made it clear in her speech that that assistance was not just for CNDD-FDD militants, but was intended for all victims of the effects of the water shortage. She urged the people of Kirundo to show solidarity and help each other, and above all to assist those in need. She went on to say that the households affected by that climatic hazard will be supported until the harvest of the B crop season.

The governor of Kirundo province, Victor Segasago, warmly thanked the CNDD-FDD party for that charitable gesture towards the victims of bad weather. He recommended that the administrative staff at grassroots level organise the distribution of that food to avoid lamentations.

The secretary of the ruling party in Butanyerera province, Ferdinand Habimana, for his part, said that that assistance would ease the shock of the victims and help them to harvest the B season crops. He also thanked his counterparts.
