MUYINGA, March 17th (ABP) – Jean Claude Barutwanayo, Governor of Muyinga Province, called on administrative authorities and citizens to avoid any fraudulent practices in order to ensure the security of national borders. This appeal was made on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, during a security meeting held in Kinanira village, Giteranyi commune.

The governor emphasized that residents of Giteranyi, located near the borders with Tanzania and Rwanda, are often accused of fraud. He pointed out that this illegal trade has considerable negative consequences, given the history of those localities. He emphasized the importance of understanding that the security of national borders must be a priority and that harvests must be used for the development of families and the country. Barutwanayo reiterated that leadership begins within the family and encouraged residents to establish well-planned family activities. He also asked the population not to be guided by ethnicity, stating that there are only two types of people: the rich and the poor. He encouraged everyone to work for development, emphasizing that in the marketplace, only money matters.

The governor also informed participants that he would call on law enforcement to ensure security, specifying that anyone caught committing illegal acts would be punished.

Regarding the purchase of agricultural products, Barutwanayo assured that the government would purchase maize at a price equivalent to that of the previous year, or even higher. He emphasized the need to avoid false information circulating on social media, specifying that only the competent authorities are authorized to provide reliable information, in accordance with established procedures. In conclusion, the governor urged citizens to share information with their leaders in order to put an end to illegal business activities.
