BUJUMBURA, January 15th (ABP) – The first leg of the 2024/2025 Lumitel Women’s League football championship ended on Saturday, January 11, 2025, the 9th day of the championship. The last day was marked by several matches, including a defeat for the champion team, PVP Buyenzi. During the day, victories were recorded: Top Girls Academy defeated Inyange (2-0) and Kazoza defeated Arena Star (2-0). The match between Intwarikazi and Buja Queens ended in a draw (0-0).

However, the focus is particularly on PVP Buyenzi. This team, which had won the title in the previous season, ended the first leg with a defeat, losing to Bon Avenir 1-3. This defeat places PVP Buyenzi in last place in the ranking with 0 points from 9 games played.

At the end of the first leg, Top Girls Academy takes the lead in the ranking with 27 points, followed by Buja Queens FC with 19 points; Kazoza Keza FC is in 3rd position with 17 points. La Colombe FC is in 4th place with 13 points, Intwarikazi FC in 5th place with 12 points, Maika FC in 6th place with 10 points, Bon Avenir FC in 7th place with 9 points and Inyange in 8th place with 6 points.

The penultimate place goes to Arena Star FC with 5 points. The situation of PVP Buyenzi, the champion team and now the last in the ranking after the first leg, raises questions about the difficulties encountered by the team during this first part of the season.
