BUJUMBURA January 17th (ABP) – Corruption by civil security agents at the central parking lot of Bujumbura city worries passengers waiting for buses, as this despicable practice delays their return, a check by ABP learned on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 during a visit made to that parking lot.
One of the passengers met on site, René Nduwayezu, told the check by ABP that the main role of those civil security agents is to ensure order in the various waiting lines and help passengers board the bus in order of arrival. He deplored, however, that these security agents are the first to create disorder by collecting money from some passengers who failed to queue like the others.
Criticizing that bad behavior displayed by those security agents in front of passengers, Nduwayezu also called on them to carry out their mission well, in order to avoid complaints from passengers. He also deplored the fact that when the bus arrives at the parking lot, some burglars hide among the passengers to steal money and phones.
Another passenger met at the central parking lot of Bujumbura City, Kévin Ingenzi, said that there are quite a few thieves around the said parking lot, looking for something to steal during the jostling of passengers when boarding the bus.
According to him, this movement is linked to the lack of buses in the parking lot due to the fuel shortage. These passengers ask the administrative authorities and the police who ensure the security of the central parking lot, to put an end to this situation that prevails there.
