GITEGA, January 22nd (ABP) – The First Lady of Burundi, Mrs. Angeline Ndayishimiye, visited on Friday, January 17, 2025, the Umugiraneza Polyclinic of Kibimba in Giheta commune, Gitega province (political capital and center of Burundi), to see the progress of the extension work of the said polyclinic, a check by ABP revealed.
The spokesperson for the First Lady, Mr. Philémon Nkurunziza, said that this extension work aims to enrich the health care offer of the Umugiraneza polyclinic by adding new services, including a modern operating theater that meets international standards, a cardiology department, a mortuary service and a paramedical training facility. The construction work of the morgue within the hospital is almost finished, he said.
Mr. Nkurunziza reported that the First Lady was pleased with the progress of the work, adding that these services were established to allow Burundians and people of neighboring countries, who are currently traveling abroad, to undergo adequate treatment on site.
To that end, he gave the example of people with congenital diseases who will very soon be treated at the Umugiraneza polyclinic. A very modern radiology service will also be set up at the polyclinic, he disclosed.
