GITEGA, 6th September (ABP) – The President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Mr. Prosper Ntahorwamiye, on Wednesday, September 4, in Gitega (central part of the country), launched the identification activities of voter registration centers in the new expanded province of Gitega. That event was attended by CENI commissioners, members of the Independent Provincial Electoral Commission (CEPI), those of the Independent Communal Electoral Commissions (CECI), police commissioners, provincial directors of education (DPE) as well as communal directors of education (DCE).
In his speech on the occasion, Mr. Ntahorwamiye said that the identification of voter registration centers is of a
preponderant in the electoral process. He made it a comparison of a solid foundation for someone who wants to build a quality building. The president of the CENI began his remarks by indicating that the above-mentioned centers will become polling stations.
Speaking about the people who will do the identification work for a period of three days in a row, Mr. Ntahorwamiye appointed the members of the CECIs, the members of the CEPIs as supervisors of the CECIs, in collaboration with the administrators of the communes concerned, the DCEs and the school planning officers as well as the village leader or neighborhoods.
In the province of Gitega, that work will be done from September 5 to 7, 2024. At the end of the event, the President of the CENI handed over motorcycles to the members of the CECs of the new province of Gitega which has been enlarged by the provinces of Muramvya, Mwaro and Karusi.
