The Head of State closes the national thanksgiving prayer

BUJUMBURA, January 3rd (ABP) – The Head of State Évariste Ndayishimiye closed on Tuesday December 31, 2024 in Bujumbura, the national prayer of thanksgiving for the end of the year 2024 in the mayor of Bujumbura, which lasted 4 days (from December 28 to 31, 2024), according to local sources.

In his prayer for the nation, Burundi’s number one thanked Almighty God for the benefits he had bestowed on Burundians during 2024. He also praised the way in which God had stood by Burundians during the difficult times the country had gone through.  The Head of State took the opportunity to ask forgiveness for the sins committed by all Burundians during 2024.  He also asked God to forgive and bless the people of Burundi. He also asked God to create a new heart in the country’s leaders, so that they could serve the nation in accordance with his will.

The President of the Republic of Burundi also asked the Creator to bring sufficient rain to Burundian soil, and to bless Burundian soil so that production would be abundant. He extended his best wishes for the New Year 2025 to all those taking part in the crusade, hoping that 2025 would be a year of prosperity for Burundi, a year of solutions to problems. He also asked leaders to put prayer first, to avoid falling into Satan’s traps.  The Head of State also prayed for peace in every household in the country.

Shortly before the Head of State’s speech, Bujumbura mayor Jimmy Hatungimana thanked the Head of State for agreeing to hold the crusade in Bujumbura town hall. He praised the way in which the prayer had been conducted, and promised that the lessons and advice drawn from it would be put into practice in 2025. On the same occasion, the mayor of Bujumbura presented the Head of State with a gift of 3 cows (called Muco) symbolizing the 3 communes that make up Bujumbura Mayorship, 13 rabbits symbolizing the 13 zones of Bujumbura town hall and 97 baskets symbolizing the 97 districts of Bujumbura Mayorship.
