BUJUMBURA, June 12 (ABP) – The association of rabbit farmers of Ntahangwa commune paid a visit to the rabbit farmers of that commune on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, a check on site by ABP has revealed.

This association is made up of a team of veterinary technicians, rabbit hutch builders, experienced rabbit farmers, and others. The purpose of the visit was to check the health of the rabbits, treat those suffering from ailments such as tumors in the head, abdomen, and other diseases like intestinal worms and eye infections.

The head of the association, Mr. Ndayizeye Alexis, explained that the main objective of this visit was to facilitate mutual recognition among the rabbit farmers so they could share knowledge.

He expressed concern about some farmers who still raise rabbits in an outdated manner, placing the entire herd in the same area. He also took the opportunity to advise those using this outdated method to follow the example of others who have already understood the proper practices for rabbit farming.

The visit took place in the Carama and Kanga neighborhoods, under the supervision of an official from the ministry of environment, agriculture, and livestock.

It is worth mentioning that some tumors were operated on-site.
