BUJUMBURA, October 16th (ABP) – The French Embassy in Burundi, through its Fonds Équipe France-Rapide (FEF-R) project, organised on Friday 11 October 2024, at the Institut Français du Burundi, a workshop to close the project for coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (JOP204) by the Burundian media.
In his presentation of the project by videoconference, Pierre Savary, Director of ESJ Lille, said that the objectives of the workshop were to identify the project’s successes, ways of capitalising on them, the difficulties encountered and to propose ways of overcoming them in future projects.
Reiterating his remarks, Pierre Savary stressed that the organisation of the 2024 Olympic Games offered an opportunity to capitalise on the various achievements. He pointed out that of the 19 Burundian journalists selected to take part in the Olympic internship, three were in Paris to cover the Olympics for the duration of the Games.
On that occasion, the two media journalists who took part in the coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games were awarded scholarships to study for a Master II in International Media Management at Lille School of Journalism (ESJLille). They are Floribert Nisabwe, one of the founding journalists of Jimbere Magazine, and Benjamin Kuriyo, Publishing Director of Journal Burundi Eco.
During the workshop, prizes were awarded to the various editorial teams involved in covering the JOP 2024, as well as to the best article on the Paris Olympics.
The recipients of those awards thanked the French Embassy in Burundi for that initiative, adding that sport is essential to the development of our country.
