BUJUMBURA, May 28 (ABP) – The presidential family, accompanied by Prime Minister Gervais Ndirakobuca, and the Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD party, Révérien Ndikuriyo, honored with their presence on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in Nyamugerera, Musigati zone, Bubanza commune in Bujumbura province, the activities of the 15th day of the election campaign for the legislative and communal elections.
In his speech, the Head of State and President of the CNDD-FDD Council of Elders Evariste Ndayishimiye said he wished not to end the rally without joining the Bagumyabanga of the Musigati zone, whom he considers “a stronghold of the CNDD-FDD party;” hence he came with his wife and their children.
He recalled that the CNDD-FDD party inherited a poorly led and managed country, characterized by divisions within Burundian society, while Burundians form a single family. He pointed out that it was not ethnicity that caused all the misfortunes that have plunged the country into mourning, but rather poor leadership. Thus, he said, the CNDD-FDD sacrificed itself for the restoration of democracy, peace, and security in Burundi.
President Ndayishimiye indicated that many patriots lost their lives to save those of other Burundians and to ensure their freedom in their homeland. He therefore asked party militants to stand for observing a minute of silence in memory of the late President Pierre Nkurunziza, before urging the entire population to guard jealously and sustain the achievements made thanks to the CNDD-FDD party.
The President revealed that the country has several assets to accelerate its path toward sustainable development, namely the country and the land, the insightful Bagumyabanga who have taken the lead to organize themselves into cooperatives and massively respond to community development works, good governance, the current image of the country, the country’s recognition at the global level, and the national vision. He called on everyone to set a vision for self-development.
“No category of the population will be left behind, the reason why we hope that even those who are not members of the CNDD-FDD party will vote for it,” noted the Head of State.
He thus recommended that the Bagumyabanga travel across all villages to teach the projects and programmes of the CNDD-FDD party to every citizen and to militants of other political parties because, he added, they too are enjoying the freedom restored by the CNDD-FDD.
