BEIJING, March 10th (AMSP/CGTN) – – Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for high-quality development to be prioritized as a key objective, to enhance the employment-driving capacity of development. In the context of the digital economy, 13 departments have jointly issued a document to cultivate new business forms and “Internet plus” models. What impact is this likely to have on addressing youth employment issues? To get more insights on China’s job market, CGTN was joined by Liu Zhiqin, Senior Research Fellow at Renmin University of China.
“I think the youth employment has a very big and significant impact on China’s future, especially in the recovery of China’s economic development. As we know, President Xi Jinping has emphasized again the importance of the high-quality development of our economy. And also, the key element, as he always mentioned, is to help the young generation to have more employment because, as we know, every year we have over 11 million graduates that are new job hunters. If all these already have a good job and are employed, they will have a bigger power and driving capacity for new consumption. This is the key element of the modernization of the high-quality development, because with the low employment rate, there is no high-quality development. This is very simple to understand. So when the digital economy comes, they have more opportunities and challenges for our job market. I suggest that China can try to have our China’s Artificial Intelligence that is not only for the model of the Westerns, as all the other start-ups have already done. We have much chance, opportunities and challenges for young start-ups to start in the digital economy, to have more contribution to our China’s economic modernization,” Liu Zhiqin pointed out.
