HAINAN, March 29th (AMSP/CGTN) – – At the Boao Forum for Asia annual conference in China’s Hainan Province, UNICEF praised China’s long-standing efforts in improving children’s lives, both domestically and globally.
Amakobe Sande, UNICEF’s Representative to China, highlighted the nation’s progress in poverty reduction, education, and child survival. She also emphasized China’s role in sharing experiences with the world through international cooperation.
“Let me say UNICEF is proud to be a longstanding, trusted partner of China. We’ve been in this country for 46 years. And over that time, we’ve accompanied China in the journey of success. As it eliminated extreme poverty, children benefited, and child survival and development indicators in this country are really good. There are areas of inequalities and unbalanced development, and we need to close those gaps. But broadly speaking, China’s progress on child survival, almost universal, basic education is really impressive. Apart from closing the gap, there are also emerging challenges around the things that have come as a result of modernization. There are positive experiences here that we are sharing with the rest of the world through platforms like CIDCA, but through a lot of technical exchanges that happened with the developing world, but also with other countries, in the North, in western countries that are grappling with similar challenges. And we have fantastic examples where China is sharing its lessons, but where China is also learning from other countries as well,” Amakobe Sande shared her thought of China’s work with UNICEF to help improve the lives of children around the world.
