BUJUMBURA, Oct 1 (ABP) – Burundi remains in the running in the two prestigious African competitions: the Champions League and the Confederation Cup.

Aigle Noir, which won the Primus League in 2024, is Burundi’s representative in the CAF Champions League. Flambeau du Centre, winner of the President’s Cup in 2024, is representing Burundi in the CAF Confederation Cup. Both teams have qualified for the second round, which counts as the Round of 32 in both competitions.

Aigle Noir will face Al Ahly of Cairo in Egypt, a tough qualification round given the track record of their opponent, who were the 2024 Champions League winners and thus automatically qualified for the 2025-2026 edition. Al Ahly holds the record with 12 titles in this competition.

Flambeau du Centre, for its part, will go up against Singida Black Stars of Tanzania, who eliminated Rayon Sports of Rwanda.

Both teams, Aigle Noir and Flambeau du centre, will play their first-leg matches at home on October 17, 2025, while the return legs will be played away on October 24, 2025, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Aigle Noir qualified by eliminating AS Ali Sabieh Telecom of Djibouti. In the first leg played at Intwari Stadium, neither team managed to score, ending in a goalless draw (0–0). The return leg favored the Burundian side, Aigle Noir, who drew 1-1, qualifying automatically for the second round thanks to the away goal advantage.

Flambeau du Centre qualified for the Round of 32 against Al Akhdar of Libya. In the home leg, Flambeau du Centre won 2-1. In the return leg, they held their ground, securing a 2-2 draw away.
