Two Burundian athletes at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

BUJUMBURA, August 30th (ABP) – The Burundi Paralympic Committee (CPB) held a press briefing on Saturday 23 August 2024 in Marie de Bujumbura to talk about the journey of the Burundian delegation which will be taking part in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The President of the Burundi Paralympic Committee, Eugène Nsabayezu, said that the Paralympic Games would bring together more than 185 countries from all over the world.

Burundi will be represented by two athletes, including Rémy Nicobimeze, who will be competing over a distance of 1,500 metros, and Adeline Mushiranzigo, who will be competing over a distance of 200 meters and 400 meters, and those athletes will be accompanied by six officials, he added. He took the opportunity to thank the Government of Burundi, through the Ministry of East African Community Affairs, Youth, Sport and Culture, which has supported them in taking care of that entire delegation. Mr. Nsabeyezu also praised the initiative of the Burundi Paralympic Committee, which offered them a sports kit consisting of shirts, shoes and other related accessories.

He also praised the support of the French Embassy in Burundi, whose projects in Burundi had enabled the talents of Adeline Mushiranzigo to be spotted. Mr. Nsabayezu asked those two athletes to represent the country well and above all to behave well by complying with the code of conduct governing athletes in the Paralympic Village. In his speech, Omer Hayimana, the athletes’ coach, said that those two athletes were well trained both physically and morally.
