Towards sustainable development of the communes of Bujumbura province

MPANDA, March 23 (ABP) – Sustainable development and the proper organization of the communes of Bujumbura province are among the major concerns of the parliamentarians elected in this constituency, it was learned on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from a meeting between these parliamentarians on recess and the communal administrators and executive secretaries of the province communes. This meeting took place at the headquarters of Mpanda commune (north-west of Burundi) and was held behind closed doors.

In an interview with journalists, Saïdi Juma, who chaired the meeting, stated that the discussions focused on concerns that could constitute obstacles to development and to the success of the 2040-2060 vision. Regarding development, he continued, the parliamentarians urged these communal administrators to work with a clear vision, in line with the 2040-2060 vision. This, he added, should be achieved through the exploitation of all the assets within their respective entities and by putting them into competition so that Bujumbura province take the lead in development.

As for communal organization and the services provided to citizens, they called on communal authorities to work in accordance with the law. To face obstacles to development, these elected officials promised to advocate with the relevant institutions, as learned from the interview.

Note that the president of the Senate, a native of this province, was present at the meeting. It is also worth noting that Bujumbura province is made up of 11 communes.
