BUJUMBURA, May 26 (ABP) – The Burundi Youth Center (MBJ), located in Kinama in the city of Bujumbura, was established with the goal of helping young people become key players in the country’s development through entrepreneurial activities, a check on site by ABP revealed.
According to the center’s coordinator, Samantha Ntibashirwa, MBJ offers training in various fields including culinary arts, ICT, business management, sexuality, and reproductive health. In addition, MBJ has a digital library that helps young people conduct various types of research.
A young person who was certified in culinary arts by the center shared that after leaving the center, he opened a small popcorn stand that brings in money. This allows him to meet his own needs. Instead of always relying on his parents, he expressed his satisfaction in earning money on his own thanks to the training he received at the MBJ. He called on all young people who are still waiting for aid to wake up and follow in the footsteps of others who have understood what entrepreneurship is.
Besides this young man, there are also single mothers from Kinama who were encountered at the site. They benefited from the training and have started producing porridge flour.
Jacqueline Uwimana, one of them, said that thanks to the youth center, she learned how to make porridge flour, and from this flour, she prepares porridge for sale. This allows her to earn money to meet her family’s needs.
She also revealed that her children are in good health because they consume this nutrient-rich porridge.
Ntibashirwa called on all young people; boys, girls, and single mothers, to make use of the center’s services by developing their hidden talents rather than sitting idly by as if they are incapable. She is convinced that everyone has hidden talents that should be revealed and used for personal growth and the good of society.
