GITEGA, May 2 (ABP) – The CNDD-FDD party closed, on Saturday April 25, 2026, three days of prayers it had organized in the city of Gitega (political capital and center of Burundi). These prayers aimed to seek divine support for members of the party’s central committee, gathered for a two-day session, so that they make decisions likely to promote the development of the party, a check on site by ABP has revealed.
The President of the Republic of Burundi and chairman of the council of elders of the CNDD-FDD party, Evariste Ndayishimiye, stated during the closing of these prayers that from now on, state employees will no longer use mobile phones during working hours. They will have to rely only on office telephones for professional communications. He specified that this measure is among the resolutions resulting from the party’s central committee, with the aim of accelerating the pace of work in public services so that it matches that of citizens engaged in development activities.
The Head of State warned that any leader who shows slowness, incompatible with development objectives will be removed from their position.
Moreover, President Ndayishimiye praised the progress already made by the CNDD-FDD party in the country’s development, particularly through its vision of promoting export crops such as avocados and coffee.
He congratulated the Bagumyabanga from all provinces of the country for their commitment to development activities.
Referring to avocado cultivation, which has spread widely across the country and whose first harvests are expected within the next five years, he encouraged investors to establish processing units in order to add value to this production and generate foreign currency for the country.
The Head of State also urged Burundians, particularly state employees, to undertake income-generating activities outside their public duties in order to meet their needs independently. He concluded his speech by praying for the nation and its leaders, invoking divine blessing on Burundi.
For his part, the Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD party, Révérien Ndikuriyo, expressed his gratitude to God for the successful conduct of these prayers.
He also thanked the president of the Republic for his participation in these spiritual activities.
Mr. Ndikuriyo indicated that the teachings delivered by the Head of State will be considered as a reference and will be relayed to those who could not take part. He promised that party officials will travel throughout all areas of the country to mobilize activists to work with determination in order to achieve the national vision.
