BUJUMBURA, September 20th (ABP) – On Wednesday, 18 September 2024, the University of Burundi organized a capacity-building workshop on the digitization and open access of scientific productions, through the library service at the Mutanga Campus.

The scientific products to be digitized include theses, dissertations and journals held in the libraries of the University of Burundi.

According to the trainer, Pier Luigi Rossi, in an interview with journalists, the aim of the workshop is to optimize and improve productivity in terms of the quality of document digitization.

He also stressed that each participant must apply his or her know-how and work as a team to improve computer work and succeed in this task.

In his view, digitized documents are essential for facilitating documentary research, in addition to being made available online.

One of the participants in this training course expressed his appreciation of this activity, stressing that it was an opportunity to discover what he did not know about digitization.

The first phase of this digitization training took place in 2022, with the aim of digitizing around sixteen thousand books, including theses and dissertations.

The workshop will take place from 16 to 25 September 2024.
