The “Soleil d’Afrique” university institute inaugurated

BUBANZA, March 24 (ABP) – Executives native to the communes of Bubanza and Mpanda (north-west Burundi) officially inaugurated, on Friday, March 20, 2026, the “Soleil d’Afrique” University Institute (INUSA) and the 2025-2026 academic year.

INUSA is located in the headquarters of Bubanza commune. It was built on the initiative of native executives and other residents of the communes of Mpanda and Bubanza. The institute currently has 68 students. It offers training in entrepreneurship and project management, hospitality and tourism, and agro-food processing.

INUSA admits candidates who have both passed and failed the State examination, it was learned.

According to Côme Manirakiza, the legal representative of the institute, it was established with the aim of assisting children from modest families who are unable to finance their university studies and meet their needs in universities in the city of Bujumbura. Manirakiza promised that native executives from Mpanda and Bubanza will continue to support this institute until it becomes a center for innovation and social transformation.

The Director General of INUSA, Venant Nyobewe, stated that the institute plans to open new departments related to geology, transport, and fishing. However, INUSA faces a lack of laboratories, computer rooms, a library, and internet connectivity, it was reported on site.

The representative of the ministry in charge of education, Léonidas Ndayizeye, promised that the ministry will spare no effort to support such initiatives. He also reiterated the commitment of the ministry responsible for education to assist INUSA in bringing it to the level of other universities. Furthermore, he called for the promotion of quality education in line with Vision 2040-2060.
