MWARO, April 18 (ABP) – The Governor of Mwaro Province Gaspard Gasanzwe called on the joint security committees to strengthen security in order to combat the theft of livestock and household goods, a phenomenon observed in certain areas of the province. It was On Wednesday, April 16, 2025 during a meeting with the administrators, village chiefs, and security and defense forces, a check on site by ABP has revealed.
As the country approaches the electoral campaign, the governor emphasized the importance of not succumbing to rumors and preserving peace and security. During that meeting, several causes of insecurity in the province were discussed, including the illegal trade of prohibited alcoholic beverages in some areas, as well as the theft of goods and livestock.
In that regard, the governor Gasanzwe called on the village chiefs to report any merchants selling those illicit beverages within their administrative entities, so that they may be brought to justice. He warned that any failure to do so could be seen as complicity.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the implementation of the newly set prices for foodstuffs by the ministry of commerce. The governor recommended that the administrators strictly enforce those prices to protect consumers.
