BUJUMBURA, April 2nd (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi received in audience, at the Kigobe Hemicycle, an American delegation which had come to join in the “National Prayer Breakfast”, a national prayer which originated in the United States.
In an interview given to the media after the audience, the Head of State’s deputy spokesman, Sébastien Ntahongendera, said that President Ndayishimiye had told his guests about the beauty and wealth of Burundi, including a soil rich in strategic minerals, fertile, where everything can grow, and which feeds the entire population without recourse to imports.
The President of the Republic also had the opportunity to praise Burundi’s abundant, clean water resources, a source that feeds the entire planet via rivers such as the Nile and Lake Tanganyika, which flows into the Congo River.
They also discussed peace in Burundi and the sub-region, according to the Head of State’s deputy spokesman.
President Ndayishimiye presented the dividends of peace and the foundations on which peace has been restored in Burundi. He explained that the Burundians had chosen to lay down the hatchet and sit down together to negotiate, because when a war ends through negotiations, there is a chance that conflicts will not re-emerge in the near future, according to Mr Ntahongendera.
Sharing Burundi’s experience, the Head of State also explained to the delegation that the Congolese should also take the decision to lay down their arms and start talks, as Burundi has done, without any outsiders.
