CANKUZO, September 23rd (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi Evariste Ndayishimiye chaired a moralization session on Thursday, September 19, 2024 in Cankuzo, for the various state leaders native to the new province of Buhumuza and representatives of political parties.

During that session, the President of the Republic indicated that a leader must be humble; they listen to the concerns of the population to find ways out.

According to the Head of State, a leader has the role of organizing a society so that it is united and active, recalling that development requires a combination of talents but also used with consciousness and the same vision while avoiding any discouraging spirit.

Furthermore, the Head of State Ndayishimiye has taken issue with the increase in the price of a 50 kg bag of SOSUMO sugar up to BIF 400,000, while a bag of sugar imported from Uganda costs BIF 243,000 in Bujumbura.

Faced with this situation, the President of the Republic recommended to the Minister in charge of trade to follow up on the fixing of the price so that sugar consumers feel encouraged to buy it.

Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye also called on all leaders to always work for the well-being of the population, because they are there for them and not for their own interests.
