MAKAMBA, September 2 (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, officially presented the new governor of Burunga and the administrator of Makamba commune to the public on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Makamba stadium in Burunga province, an onsite check by ABP has disclosed.
In his speech, the Head of State returned to the importance of the new administrative division. He said it is intended to accelerate the development of Burundi. Each province will have its own budget allocated to the activities of each ministry.
He called on elected or appointed administrators to be good servants of the people in the implementation of the vision of a developed Burundi by 2060. Administrators must address the people’s challenges by encouraging a change in mindset.
For the Head of State, Burundi is full of development potential. He urged the population to change their mindset and increase their working hours for a solid start toward self-reliance. He thanked the people of the former Bururi province for understanding the importance of cultivating lands that were once overgrown with weeds.
After the presentation of the governor and the administrator of Makamba to the population, Mr. Ndayishimiye asked the newly introduced administrators to set a goal for themselves that they will report on in 100 days.
In his welcome remarks, the governor’s chief of staff, Etienne Mbonihankuye, stated that the people of Burunga are actively engaged in development work, especially agricultural labor.
The governor of Burunga and the administrator of Makamba pledged to be ready to serve and guide the population to achieve the expected development. The President of the Republic of Burundi also advised the administrators to fight against prohibited alcoholic beverages. He promised to provide 200 bags of cement to the people of Bururi who are currently building a bridge.
