GITEGA, Feb 21 (ABP) – Members of the CNDD-FDD party in the Mubuga zone, in Gitega commune and province (political capital and center of Burundi), joined, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, other Bagumyabanga from Gitega province and from across the country in New Year 2026 greetings exchange ceremonies, a check on site by ABP has revealed.

The message addressed to the Bagumyabanga by the provincial representation of the CNDD-FDD in Gitega was read by Dr. Jean Damascène Bayubahe.

These ceremonies were honored by the presence of Charles Shukuru, an official in the office of the president of the Republic, the Director General in charge of the administration and territory program at the ministry responsible for the interior, Valentin Nahimana, the deputy chairperson of the communal council of Gitega, Marie Louise Hatungimana, as well as other authorities.

On the sidelines of the messages of thanks, the provincial representation of the CNDD-FDD in Gitega called on the Bagumyabanga to collect food supplies intended to support Congolese refugees in different refugee camps in Burundi.

Speaking on the occasion, the CNDD-FDD secretary in the Mubuga zone, Damascène Nzohabonimana, congratulated the Bagumyabanga natives of this zone working elsewhere for their commitment to local development activities.

However, he stated that the population is concerned about the decline in the education sector as well as the poor condition of the road linking the Mubuga zone to the headquarters of the commune and province of Gitega. This situation makes travel difficult, especially during this rainy season, he added.

Mr. Nzohabonimana called on each native of the zone to contribute, according to their means, so that by the 2027 New Year celebrations, tangible achievements may be visible.

For his part, Mr. Shukuru advocated for the revitalization of the education sector. He urged school principals to encourage teachers to show greater dedication in order to restore this sector.

Regarding the road, he recalled that development is difficult without good road infrastructure. He invited the population to continue community work to fill potholes, while awaiting intervention by the State.

Note that the Bagumyabanga from the eight villages that make up the Mubuga zone closed these ceremonies with a moment of conviviality around a shared drink.
