MURAMVYA, Oct 15 (ABP) – The president of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, presented on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the new administrator of Muramvya commune, Eric Nkurunziza, to the local population.
The ceremony took place at the Royal Stadium of Muramvya in the presence of the governor of Gitega province, Liboire Bigirimana, high-ranking officials native to the area, and people from various parts of Muramvya commune in Gitega province (Central-East), an onsite check by ABP has revealed.
In his speech, the Head of State noted a positive evolution in the image of Muramvya commune’s headquarters when comparing its current state to that of 2005, considering the new infrastructure and the already installed tea factory. “This shows we are moving toward development,” declared the Head of State.
However, he indicated that this is a tiresome journey that comes with many challenges, which Burundians are bravely overcoming. That is why, according to President Ndayishimiye, the government has established the vision of an emerging and developed nation where every Burundian will breathe a sigh of relief, affirming their self-sufficiency.
To achieve this, an administrative division was implemented with the goal of decentralizing the State budget so that each province can plan its own development projects, he emphasized. He also stated that, in the same spirit, all ministries will have provincial departments working in the former provincial headquarters to ensure that government action is decentralized throughout the country without exception.
Expanded communes and zones closer to the citizens have also been established with the aim of creating various departments within the communes and ensuring good governance, which would ease access to civil registration services for the people.
The President of the Republic called on leaders at all levels to avoid repeating the mistakes of their distant predecessors, who made the population waste time by forcing them to spend long hours in front of communal offices waiting for services.

Every village chief must know the challenges faced by their people, provide possible solutions, and escalate issues themselves to higher levels until a final solution is found, emphasized President Ndayishimiye.
Specific piece of advice was given to the communal administrator of Muramvya before his official introduction by President Ndayishimiye.
The communal administrator is the primary person responsible for all communal services, represents the government in all sectors, and must be aware of how the population lives. The administrator is called upon to lead by example in implementing development policies and fighting against disorder, illegal bars (“ligalas”), corruption, and injustice.
As for the new administrator of Muramvya commune, after his introduction, he warmly thanked the President of the Republic for placing his trust in him. Administrator Nkurunziza took this opportunity to affirm that he had taken all the Head of State’s advice by heart.
Note that after the activity related to the presentation of the communal administrator of Muramvya, the Head of State visited a modern pigsty and an avocado plantation belonging to the family of Police Colonel Isidore Ryakiye, located on the Ryakabanga sub-village of the Mubarazi neighborhood in Muramvya zone and commune.
