MUKAZA, April 8 (ABP) – The ministry of foreign affairs, regional integration and development cooperation presented, on April 3, 2024, the report of its main achievements over a six-month period, covering the different areas under its responsibility.
During this presentation, the minister in charge of foreign affairs, Edouard Bizimana, indicated that, as part of promoting the country’s image on the international stage, Burundi took part in various summits organized both at the international level and across the African continent. In this regard, Burundi was able to express its views on various themes, he added.
He also recalled that Burundi began assuming the presidency of the African Union (AU) over the past six months. He revealed that the ministry of foreign affairs, regional integration and development cooperation had prepared for this through training provided to Burundian personnel designated to support those working at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
“Many of them have strengthened their capacities in order to have human resources capable of contributing to the achievement of Burundi’s vision: an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060,” he assured.
Minister Bizimana mentioned a twinning partnership between the Burundian commune of Mwumba and an Italian commune. He indicated that the country benefits from this, notably through intensified exchanges between the two communities, as well as the implementation of development projects for the benefit of this Burundian commune.
The head of Burundian diplomacy finally assured that the ministry in charge of foreign affairs will continue its mission while aligning with the 20th objective and the 5th pillar of Burundi’s emergence, as defined in the national vision document, in order to achieve the expected results.
