MUKAZA, March 25 (ABP) – The Burundian minister of communication and media, Gabby Bugaga, received in audience, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in his office, the regional director of Search for Common Ground, Rajendra Mulmi, who has been on a courtesy visit to Burundi since March 19, 2026.
Speaking to the press, Mulmi indicated that his visit allowed him to travel to the interior of the country to observe the achievements of the NGO, particularly through its Studio Ijambo program, which collaborates with certain media outlets to inform the population as part of efforts to promote peace and social cohesion.
He praised the organization’s contributions to the people visited and stated that it plans to redefine its working strategy.
Mulmi also requested greater openness and strengthened cooperation with the ministry in charge of media as well as with the government, in order to better structure this collaboration. The objective is to align the NGO’s projects with the national policy and with Burundi’s vision of becoming an emerging country by 2040 and a developed country by 2060, he specified.
For his part, Bugaga expressed his gratitude for the visit and appreciated the NGO’s contribution through the media and its Studio Ijambo program, as indicated by Jean Claude Nizigiyimana, assistant to the minister of communication and media.
He asked the organization to expand its scope of action through the partner media with which it collaborates. He also invited its leaders, both at the national and African levels, to ensure that the redefinition of their strategy directs their interventions in line with Burundi’s 2040-2060 vision, Nizigiyimana reported.
The minister also emphasized the importance of aligning their actions with the country’s current priorities, particularly programs related to hygiene and sanitation.
Furthermore, he stressed the need to strengthen collaboration between his ministry and the NGO by focusing on concrete and effective support, in order to consolidate this partnership.
