The Minister in charge of the Interior urges the population of Kirundo to remain united and avoid divisions of all kinds

Interior Minister Niteretse addresses the population from Kirundi

KIRUNDO, November 25th (ABP) – The Minister of the Interior, Community Development and Public Security, Martin Niteretse, met on Friday, November 22, 2024, with the administrative officials, representatives of the justice system and leaders of political parties and faith leaders from Busoni district in Butanyerera province, in a moralization session to encourage them to plan for the 2040-2060 vision.

During the meeting, Minister Niteretse ordered the police officers working in Kirundo province to apprehend all fraudsters as soon as possible. “We must not let these criminals who embezzle the public treasury go free,” he insisted, adding that all these goods clandestinely transported to Burundi’s neighboring countries should pay taxes that go back to building the country.

The Minister in charge of the Interior also warns the village notables who decide in place of judges, by settling conflicts between people and in criminal matters. He recalled that their role is to ensure conciliation between people in disputes.

For his part, the governor of Kirundo province, Victor Segasago, said the fraudulent products often seized are minerals and chemical fertilizers.

The governor of Kirundo also indicated that the people of voting age in that province registered at 85%. The same meeting was also held in Kirundo district of the extended province of Butanyerera.

In the two districts visited, Minister Niteretse urged the population to remain united and avoid divisions of all kinds in order to move towards the 2040-2060 vision.
