BUJUMBURA, December 13th (ABP) – On Thursday December 12, 2024, the Head of State, Évariste Ndayishimiye, received in audience the Algerian President’s envoy, in the person of Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Foreign Community Abroad.
On leaving the audience, Attaf announced that he was carrying a letter from the President of Algeria to deliver to President Ndayishimiye. He explained that he had exchanged views with the Burundian Head of State on the development of bilateral relations between the two countries. For the head of Algerian diplomacy, that development is very important and constitutes the best way to serve the African continent, in the particularly troubled international situation.
Attaf pointed out that Burundi and Algeria share a determination and political will to breathe new life into those relations.
Both Burundi’s deputy presidential spokesman, Sébastien Ntahongendera, and the Algerian president’s envoy informed the meeting that there was a real desire to turn both countries into emerging and, later, developed countries.
For the president’s deputy spokesman, Algeria has raised the possibility of investing in Burundi, to make the vision of the two countries a reality.
