RUTANA, September 30th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, proceeded, on Friday, September 27, 2024, to the inauguration of the new provincial office of Rutana province. He was accompanied by the second vice-president of the Senate Fabrice Nkurunziza and the minister in charge of public security and that responsible for education, a check by ABP revealed.
In his welcoming speech, the governor of the Rutana province, Olivier Nibitanga, said that this four-storey building has cost more than four billion Burundi francs, the amount that was made available thanks to the contributions of the natives of the province but also to contributions from friends of the province, despite the debt of about one hundred and twelve million collected. He thanked everyone who contributed to the construction of that building, given that the provincial office of that province was until then in a house that was built during the colonial period.
Nibitanga was pleased that this construction was completed, noting that the decentralized services of the ministries of Burundi which until now carried out their activities in rented places, will have offices in that new building.
As for the President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, he said that the construction of the provincial office by the natives of the province, themselves, is a sign of unity but also of good governance on the part of the leaders because the inhabitants heard the call of their leader and followed him, which resulted in this success. He praised such unity that characterized the natives of the Rutana province, but also congratulated the governor of that province for his good governance. Based on the fact that friends from Rutana province contributed to the completion of the construction of the office, President Ndayishimiye noted that unity resides in all the Burundian people. He encouraged Burundians in general to continue with this spirit, noting that in the absence of unity, development is impossible. He also invited leaders to fight laziness in order to achieve development.
The number one leader of Burundi also did not fail to appeal to Burundians to work in order to have financial security. He stressed the importance of having something to sell in case of urgent need regardless of age or social status.
It is worth noting that President Ndayishimiye promised the governor of Rutana province that he will pay the entire debt that this province had collected during the construction. To that end, the governor awarded certificates of recognition as a thank you to the contributors who made the most contribution than others in the construction of that building, including the President of the Republic and the Minister responsible for public security.
