RUMONGE, September 27th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, proceeded on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, to the inauguration of a building of the Rumonge provincial office “Tanganyika Lake House”.
On that occasion, the Head of State praised the importance of national unity and fraternity among Burundians, stressing that the social divisions that have marked the history of Burundi, particularly between the Hutu, Tutsi and Twa, have undermined the development of the country.
Those divisions have, according to the Head of State, slowed down the development of the country, since the Burundians spent a whole decade in a war that only destroyed the property of the population.
He called on all Burundian people to get rid of the divisive spirit and get united as one man, to be Burundians. This together, he said, will help build an emerging Burundi by 2040, and fully developed in 2060.
The Governor of Rumonge Province, Leonard Niyonsaba, revealed that the construction of that provincial office cost BIF 1,078,968,529, of which BIF 45,000,000 was donated by the President of the Republic himself, as support for development projects.
That modern infrastructure constitutes, as Governor Niyonsaba pointed out, a further step towards the consolidation of local administration and the development of the province.
