MUKAZA, April 14 (ABP) – The Burundian Prime Minister, Nestor Ntahontuye, opened on Monday, April 13, 2026, in Bujumbura, a two-day workshop dedicated to strengthening the capacities of managers of projects funded by development partners.
This meeting brought together officials from ministries, project management teams, as well as monitoring services from the Prime Minister’s office.
The objective is to assess the progress of the projects. Discussions focus in particular on financial execution, results achieved, and delays recorded.
Ntahontuye also indicated that this workshop will make it possible to review the implementation of recommendations made by partners during supervision missions. He also mentioned difficulties related to recruitment in certain projects and the processing of files.
Several challenges were identified. These include delays in data processing, slow execution of activities, and lack of communication among the stakeholders involved.
According to Ntahontuye, these malfunctions hinder project performance. He called on those in charge to strengthen collaboration and to regularly share information with the supervising ministries and the Prime Minister’s office.
He stressed the need for better coordination in order to facilitate rapid decision-making. In case of obstacles, those responsible were invited to refer to the Prime Minister’s office for support.
The Prime Minister also expressed concerns about the low budget execution rate recorded during the 2024-2025 fiscal year, as well as in previous years.
He urged participants to improve performance during the 2025-2026 budget year, in order to avoid further underperformance.
