GITEGA, December 23rd (ABP) – The First Lady of Burundi, Mrs. Angeline Ndayishimiye, along with the Minister of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines, Ibrahim Uwizeye, on Friday, December 13, 2024 proceeded to the inauguration of a water supply line, in Bwoga village located in Gitega district and province.
Built by BRARUDI (Burundi brewery), in collaboration with the NGO Amazi Water, the water resulted from drilling, according to the CEO of BRARUDI, Laurent Bukasa Nsenda. He specified that this water supply costing BIF 125 million will benefit 600 households totaling 3600 people.
The first lady of Burundi warmly thanked the company which is always alongside the people in their needs. She asked the company to extend the project to other villages of the country. Addressing the people who benefited from the water supply, Mrs. Angeline Ndayishimiye recommended them to maintain the hydraulic works well, letting them know that water is life. Thanks to this “pearl”, she argued, the opportunity is offered to you to clean your households, do personal and clothing hygiene; in short, do zero waste in your locality.
Previously, Minister Ibrahim Uwizeye had commended the presence of the first lady of Burundi, and took the opportunity to express his sincere congratulations for her active involvement in the well-being of the population. After Bwoga, the first lady of Burundi visited the Urumuri center, housed in the Gitega hospital, which treats women suffering from obstetric fistulas. She handed over a donation worth BIF 100 million granted by BRARUDI and consisting of medical and hygiene equipment. She also handed over food aid delivered by the Bonne action – Umugiraneza – Foundation of which she is the legal representative.
