NGOZI, October 8 (ABP) – The grassroots church communities of the chaplaincy of the defense and security forces in Ngozi, in collaboration with the Diocese of Ngozi, celebrated on Sunday, October 5, 2025, the 2025th jubilee since the coming of the Word of God on Earth.
The ceremonies began with a mass celebrated by Monsignor Georges Bizimana, bishop of the diocese of Ngozi, in the police chaplaincy of Ngozi.
In his speech, Brigadier General Lambert Habonimana, regional police commissioner for the northern region, stated that this day demonstrates that the defense and security forces also participate in religious life. He emphasized that some people believe their role is limited only to fighting the enemy.
The governor of Butanyerera province, Police Brigadier General Victor Segasago, who attended the celebration, said that the work of the defense and security forces is not easy, especially since it often keeps them away from their families.
He believes that the religious teachings they receive support them morally. This helps them live according to the Word of God, which results in better efficiency in their daily missions.
He encouraged the continuation of these teachings to strengthen souls. He also urged soldiers and police officers to regularly meditate on the Word of God taught to them, to put it into practice in the exercise of their duties, and to use it to enlighten those who still live in darkness so that they too may convert. Note that the chaplaincy within the defense and security forces was established in 1971.
