GITEGA, April 28 (ABP) – The central committee of the CNDD-FDD party began, on Friday, April 24, 2026, a two-day retreat at the Grand Seminary Saint Jean-Paul II of Gitega, dedicated to evaluating the stat e of implementation of the recommendations from a similar meeting held in Ngozi in 2024.
These activities were attended by the president of the Republic, also chairman of the council of elders of the CNDD-FDD party, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, along with several high-ranking political and administrative authorities.
In his opening speech, the Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, recalled that the CNDD-FDD has always worked for the promotion of democracy, the rule of law, and sustainable development. He indicated that this retreat provides an opportunity to assess achievements already accomplished as well as projects not yet carried out, with a view to formulating new directions for the country’s development.
The president of the Republic and chairman of the council of elders of the CNDD-FDD party welcomed the progress made, particularly in the implementation of foreign currency–generating projects, such as the promotion of industrial and export crops, especially avocado cultivation, noting that it is the citizens who develop the country and not the other way around.
To this end, he called on Bagumyabanga members to strengthen the mobilization of the population around development activities and to engage in productive projects likely to contribute to changing the country’s image. He also insisted on the need for proper project planning and the importance of patriotism in implementing development actions.

Speaking in turn, the Secretary-General of the CNDD-FDD, Mr. Révérien Ndikuriyo, indicated that this retreat aims to review the implementation of the recommendations from the 2024 Ngozi meeting, in order to draw lessons for the future.
Note that the proceedings of this retreat continued behind closed doors and are expected to lead to important resolutions for the party’s strategic direction.
