MAKAMBA, Oct 15 (ABP) – The minister of national education and scientific research, Mr. François Havyarimana, on Monday, October 13, 2025, handed over 60 mattresses, 3,000 notebooks, and pens to the students of Nyabigina Technical High School in Makamba commune, who were affected by the dormitory fire that occurred last Saturday, an onsite check by ABP has revealed.

Minister Havyarimana stated that the government provided this material support to enable the students to continue attending classes despite losing their school supplies in the fire. He called on the students’ parents to do their best to provide for other necessary items.

He also appealed to other charitable individuals to contribute so that the students’ situation can return to normal.

Nevertheless, Mr. Havyarimana requested that the appropriate authorities quickly produce a report from their investigations to determine the cause of the fire. He advised students not to continue tampering with the electrical system, in case the fire was caused by such tinkering.

He finally indicated that, through the budget allocated to the ministry for school construction, the rehabilitation of this dormitory will be made a priority.
