November 28th (AMSP/CGTN) – – At the green agricultural supply chain section of the 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo, a range of technologies is displayed across the supply chain. Reporter Hou Jing takes a closer look at what modern farming is like on Chinese farms.

Robots equipped with cameras serve as digital eyes, while drones that carry pesticides act as your remote hands. Meanwhile, AI models function as the brain, operating around the clock.

With these technologies, becoming a modern farmer in China has never been easier. Farmers can now lie in bed and manage their chickens and pigs by remotely guiding agricultural experts.

Reporter Hou Jing witnessed the agricultural expert called Dr. Pig. “Dr. Pig is a central control unit located in a farmer’s home. It connects to the Internet of Things to monitor temperature, humidity, and air quality in the pigsty, prompting the farmer to open windows or automatically activating the ventilation system as needed,” Gavin Yang,
President of Marketing Center and E-commerce Dept. at CP China, told CGTN.

Digital technologies have been integrated throughout the entire industrial and supply chain in China, encompassing everything from raising chickens, pigs, and shrimp to packaging, delivery, and online sales.

“We are pioneers in China for using robotic cameras in poultry management. These robots utilize visual AI technology to identify chickens and infrared thermometry to monitor their health. If a chicken displays signs of a low fever, the AI alerts staff to remove the affected bird, ” Gavin Yang said.

“We consolidate all of the information, including the manufacturing information, quality information, as well as the cold supply chain temperature control information. Then we can utilize that information that technology, that data to be able to better monitor,” said Jim Shi, Chief Supply Chain Officer of McDonald’s China.

“Thanks to the rapid supply chain, products from farms across China are now easily accessible from your pocket. The application of artificial intelligence technology in China’s agricultural sector is significantly ahead of other countries. We are also planning to export our modern factory models to Thailand,” said Gavin Yang.

As the guests highlighted, China is not only a vast market for domestic and international products but has also emerged as a center for technological innovation in the agricultural sector.
