CIBITOKE, December 24th (ABP) – The Marayika association based in Kaburantwa, Buganda commune in Cibitoke province organized last week a solidarity New Year’s Eve for sharing between the beneficiaries and other vulnerable people in the community.

The ceremonies took place in the premises of its school “Buganda School Greatness”, where after the proclamation of the results of the first term of 2024-2025, Santa Claus distributed gifts to the children of the school and other vulnerable people, chosen from the community.

Nearly 80 vulnerable children received gifts containing shoes. In addition, at least 109 vulnerable people received on the same day five kilograms of rice per person, offered by the Marayika association. In the presence of the Buganda commune administration, 94 birth certificates were also granted to children from vulnerable families, including 50 children from Batwa families, recently registered with the marital status thanks to Marayika.

For the Coordinator of the association, Diomède Niyibizi, it has become a custom for the Marayika association to organize such a New Year’s Eve, to share and spend a pleasant moment with vulnerable people who need it so much. This goes hand in hand with the organization’s mission to support marginalized and more vulnerable communities through income-generating activities, so that they become autonomous, he said.

To achieve this, Marayika started with the girls from Kaburantwa village and its surroundings who were more vulnerable and marginalized, to provide them with jobs, or to support others to complete their interrupted schooling, he said.

The communal administrator of Buganda, Pamphile Hakizimana, praised the activities of the Marayika association, through its education project, in the health and sustainable development sectors.
