GITEGA, October 23rd (ABP) – The presidential couple was enrolled on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the first day of the voter registration activity, to participate in the 2025 elections. It was in his native Musama village, Giheta district, in Gitega province (political capital and center of Burundi), a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
In an interview he gave to journalists just after his enrollment, President Ndayishimiye called on Burundians of voting age to respond massively and on time to this enrollment activity in order, according to him, not to deprive themselves of their rights to elect.
The head of state indicated that this work concerns all Burundians of voting age. It is for that reason, according to him, that he enrolled himself with his better, in order to participate in the 2025 elections. “As I am also Burundian, I came here to enroll myself so that I can participate in these 2025 elections which will be at the same time village, district and legislative elections”, Mr. Ndayishimiye said.
He also indicated that he was delighted that Burundians have already understood that electing is an honor and are responding massively to this activity. Based on this, he indicated that participating in elections is not only a right but also a duty because, according to him, whoever refuses to elect deprive themselves of their right. President Ndayishimiye finally called on Burundians to consolidate peaceful cohabitation and not to be distracted by this election period. He rather called on them to remain calm and courageous at work to increase production, because, he underscored, it is not the elections that will feed Burundians.
