MUKAZA, April 14 (ABP) – A fitness walk was organized this Saturday, April 11, 2026, by the “Step by step, health for all” club, under the impetus of the First Lady of Bu rundi, Angeline Ndayishimiye.
The activity brought together administrative authorities, political leaders, and many citizens, with the aim of promoting physical health through regular exercise.
From the early hours of the morning, the enthusiasm of the participants set the tone for exemplary civic mobilization in favor of well-being and a healthy lifestyle.
The walk began on Siguvyaye Street located in Mutanga South. It continued toward Sororezo, then the heights of Kiriri, before ending at Unity Square. On site, participants took part in various physical exercises aimed at strengthening their fitness and promoting a healthier way of life.
In her speech, the First Lady of Burundi recalled that sport is accessible to everyone, regardless of age or social status. She emphasized the close link between physical activity, good health, and sustainable development, urging citizens to incorporate sport into their daily lives, including after working hours.
Ms. Angeline Ndayishimiye also pointed out that the organizing club operates within a legal and structured framework. She encouraged participants to undergo regular medical check-ups in order to better monitor their health.
Furthermore, she called on provincial and communal authorities to support and promote such initiatives within the communities they represent.
The announcement of a forthcoming activity in Bugarama reflects the desire to extend this momentum to other localities in the country. Among the personalities present were the deputy secretary general of the ruling party, Cyriaque Nshimirimana, and several local administrative officials.
