RUTANA, May 6 (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, held a meeting this Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in the commune of Rutana with senior officials from various sectors of Burunga province as well as communal administrators.
The meeting aimed to install the new officials in their functions and to present to them the development vision within the framework of the new provincial organization, a check on site by ABP has revealed.
In his speech, the Head of State expressed his satisfaction at visiting this province, praising the establishment of the new authorities and their gradual commitment to their duties.
He congratulated the appointed officials and appreciated their closeness to the people, an approach he considers essential to strengthen citizen participation in development.
President Ndayishimiye called on leaders to redouble their efforts, recalling that nation-building is a continuous process that requires innovation and constant commitment. He insisted on the need for each official to clearly understand their objectives, to regularly self-evaluate, and to put in place effective strategies to ensure concrete results, especially as the execution of the provincial budget based on the PTBA approaches.

In his welcoming remarks, the governor of Burunga province, Parfait Mboninyibuka, indicated that security prevails across all 576 villages of the province, allowing the people to focus on agricultural and livestock activities. He also noted that despite climate disruptions, agricultural production is expected to be satisfactory.
As part of the hundred-day program, the province has set three priorities: increasing communal revenues, where almost all communes have reached the monthly target of 60 million Burundian francs except the commune of Bururi; contour bunding over a length of 1,582 km; and the planting of 782,864 avocado trees, despite certain constraints related to the geographical specificities of the region.
In conclusion, the Governor thanked the Head of State for his support to the new administrative organization and for the rehabilitation of public infrastructure.
