NGOZI, April 16th  (ABP) – Members of the CNDD-FDD party from the new province of Butanyerera gathered on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the new commune of Tangara, for the ceremonies of presenting the party’s achievements since the beginning of the boundary delimitation up to the present day, and for the exchange of New Year’s wishes for 2025, a check on the site by ABP has disclosed.

In his speech, the provincial secretary of the CNDD-FDD party in Butanyerera Ferdinand Habimana, indicated that the party has focused on promoting the agricultural sector in order to increase production. According to him, the people have already understood the benefits of the policy of pooling arable lands.

“Thanks to that policy, which we owe to the current good governance, the people of Butanyerera have responded favorably, leading to a significant increase in agricultural yields, particularly maize production”, he stated. He also pointed out that efforts are underway, in collaboration with several partners, to discourage speculation on maize and coffee, a phenomenon that persists especially in communes along the borders with neighboring countries.

Regarding tea cultivation, the CNDD-FDD in Butanyerera province expresses concern over the behavior of some ill-intentioned individuals who are encouraging tea growers to uproot their fields. The party is calling on the State to punish those who are responsible for those despicable actions. That political leader also clarified that awareness campaigns are being conducted with the Bagumyabanga of Kayanza to establish new tea plantations.

In the coffee sector, he reported complaints from coffee farmers who claim that they are not well received when selling their coffee cherries at washing stations. In that regard, he urged the State to renew the policy of revitalizing that sector, particularly through ODECA. Regarding the avocado sector, more than 13 million avocado trees have been planted in the province. The main goal is that by 2030, Burundi will be able to export 1,000 tons of avocados, which would contribute to increasing foreign exchange in the country.

Taking the floor, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Daniel Gélase Ndabirabe, commended the achievements already made and the projects planned by the Bagumyabanga of Butanyerera for the development of the province. He also praised the ongoing preparations for the upcoming elections. Ndabirabe gave those achievements an 80% rating. He urged everyone to contribute their part to the construction of the desired development and to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming elections.
