CANKUZO, Oct 16 (ABP) – The contribution of every individual is necessary for the development of households in Buhumuza province, said the governor of the province, Denise Ndaruhekere, during a meeting held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, with the people of Cankuzo commune, a check on site by ABP has revealed.
Governor Denise stated that the development of the province begins at the household level, and therefore all household members must contribute according to their ability and means. With this in mind, Ndaruhekere urged the population to strengthen efforts in agricultural development and trade.
Meanwhile, traders called for an extension of closing hours for the main markets of Cankuzo, Ruyigi, and Muyinga until 9:00 p.m. Eugène Rizinda, one of the trade leaders in Buhumuza, pointed out the losses incurred when market gates close at 6:00 p.m., despite the fact that security is fully ensured. The governor of Buhumuza promised to find lasting solutions to their concerns.
Regarding infrastructure, in order to develop the city of Cankuzo in an orderly manner, Ndaruhekere urged the population to always consult with officials from OBUHA and follow their advice before beginning any construction.
