CANKUZO, October 10th (ABP) – Members of the provincial education council in Cankuzo met on Monday 7 October 2024 at the provincial headquarters to discuss the methods to be adopted for quality education.
According to the participants, the general education sections are no longer of interest to pupils. That is because the 1st years of science and languages at the various local secondary schools have been suspended, as pupils have not opted for those sections.
The governor of Cankuzo province, Boniface Banyiyezako, deplored the fact that parents, local authorities and other leaders no longer care about children’s education. He announced that, from now on, parents who are complicit in encouraging children to drop out of school will be punished.
More than 10,000 dropouts were recorded during the 2023-2024 school year.
