BUJUMBURA, May 26 (ABP) – The FROLINA party officially launched its election campaign on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in the Kinama zone, Ntahangwa commune, in the extended Bujumbura province.
The event began with a parade of party members and supporters. In her speech, the party chairperson Cécile Nshimirimana recalled that the party was founded in 1987.
Its political program focuses on the socio-economic development of the country, with particular emphasis on agriculture, communication, education, infrastructure, and youth.
Mrs. Nshimirimana promised that if the party comes into power, several initiatives will be implemented to support farmers. These will include the distribution of improved seeds, the granting of agricultural loans of which only 25% will need to be repaid, and the provision of agricultural technicians to support producers. Since agriculture is a pillar of the national economy, she said, its reinforcement is a priority.
In the communication sector, the party aims to increase internet access, which is currently estimated at 30%, to a significantly higher level. Every citizen should have access to a phone to facilitate communication, she emphasized.
The program also includes salary increases to improve the social conditions of workers.
As of education, the FROLINA party intends to make basic education accessible to all. It plans to cover school fees for up to 10 years. According to Ms. Nshimirimana, the goal is to ensure that all children, including those from underprivileged families, have access to quality and qualified education.
The party’s vision also encompasses the modernization of roads and the expansion of trade routes through the export of agricultural produce, with the aim of generating foreign currency and bolstering the national economy.
Before concluding her address, the FROLINA chairperson placed special emphasis on youth. She stated that every young person who completes their studies should have an opportunity for professional integration without relying exclusively on the State. This measure is intended to encourage entrepreneurship, creativity, and initiative among Burundian youth.
