MPANDA, April 21 (ABP) – Natives and residents of Mpanda commune (north-west of Burundi) are called upon to pay taxes and duties for the implementation of projects planned by the commune.
This appeal was made to them by the communal administrator, Léopold Ndayisaba, during a meeting he held on Friday, April 17, 2026, for executives who are natives and residents on site.
Among the flagship projects of Mpanda commune are the restructuring of the centers of Muzinda, Musenyi and Gihanga, while avoiding unplanned construction, the electrification of six rural centers, the construction of a cultural space, the development of the Kirengane thermal water site, the rehabilitation of public infrastructure, the supply of drinking water, among others.
However, the communal administrator of Mpanda pointed out obstacles to the implementation of these projects. These include insufficient financial resources, poor management of harvests, prohibited drinks and drunkenness. There is also demographic pressure and the non-repayment of loans contracted by some individuals.

Participants in the meeting asked communal authorities to make use of the resources and potential that the commune possesses. They expressed the wish to meet at least twice a year in order to assess the progress of the commune’s projects.
The representative of the governor of Bujumbura province and a native of this commune, Cléophas Nizigiyimana, called on these natives and residents to combine efforts and provide support in the execution of these projects. Communal institutions must always work toward achieving the 2040-2060 vision.
Note that Mpanda commune consists of 9 zones and 47 villages.
